GIRARD, Ohio - A Girard man is flying to every county in Ohio to celebrate the anniversary of a classic airplane.
Joe Murray and Ron Siwik are each flying their own Piper Cub planes to all 88 counties in Ohio.
They want to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Piper Cub and promote the local airports of the Buckeye state in the process.
The trip started as just something to do for fun, but now the duo has decided to use the trip as a way to raise money for a college scholarship.
“The goal is $500 per county. That comes out to $44 thousand and that will help a student go to Kent State University,” Swik said.
Ron and his flying partner hope to finish their 88 county trek on May 21st in Dayton.
